Middle Tennessee Counseling (“MTNC”) is a group counseling and training center located in Brentwood, TN. MTNC exists to connect individuals with their stories, couples with each other, and all with God. We provide individual, couples, and family therapy to adults in the greater Nashville area, and comprehensive training and development for graduate students, therapists, and supervisors in the mental health field.

We have four core values that guide and shape our work:

With
Presence not transactions. Let’s talk with each other, not at each other. The Advent season of the Church calendar is oriented around “Emmanuel” which means “God with us.” Relationships are messy and beautiful. It is in relationships that we experience great hope and deep pain. We are committed to Be with you, not separate and alone.

Influence
Engagement not control. The world is ours to rule and subdue, not control. Yet we suffer greatly by attempting to control the world around us. We cannot control others (or sometimes even ourselves) but we have influence with them. Use your gifts and powers for good to influence your world, don’t control or attempt to control it. Leave your community a better place than when you found it, don’t wait for someone else to do so.

And
Both and, not either or. Life is full of tensions and choices: Light and dark. Life and death. Sweet and sour. Laughing and crying. We usually want one or the other, not both. Learn to live life on life’s terms, accepting both and, not either or.

(Re)
Progress not perfection. “Re” is a word forming prefix that means “back, back from, back to the original place;” also “again, anew, once more,” also conveying the notion of “undoing” or “backward,” etc. Sometimes we have to go back before we can begin a new path to be well and go forward. Recovery. Reformation. Responsibility. Rediscovery. Resolution. Restoration.

Therapy provides space for client and therapist to listen, explore, and engage together about the challenges that the client is facing. We listen with you. We invite you to engage and influence the world around you with all the beauty and heartache, and everything in between. For hope. For healing. For Recovery and Restoration.
